Dania Gardens Officially Open!
Dania Society's new seniors affordable housing complex - Dania Gardens – officially opened today. The ceremony was marked with distinguished speakers, music, dance, food, and light refreshments. An estimated 250 Society members, residents, families and project related people attended the ceremony along with Danish Ambassador to Canada Nikolaj Harris, Danish Honorary Consul Mikkel Høegholm Strøjer, President Rolf Christensen of the Federation of Danish Associations in Canada, BC Housing's Associate Vice President Sarah Smith, Acting Burnaby Mayor Richard Lee, and BC Seniors Advocate Dan Levitt in attendance.
Dania Society is thankful to all speakers and attendees who came to witness and enjoy this important milestone in its 80+ year history.
We also want to thank BC Premier David Eby, Minister of Housing Ravi Kahlon and MLAs Raj Chouhan, Anne Kang, Janet Routledge, Rohini Arora and Paul Choi for sending a joint Certificate of Appreciation that was displayed at the event. (They were unable to come due to their pre-set Legislature schedule in Victoria, BC). Dania Society is thankful for the enormous support that Province has given through BC Housing in making this new Dania Gardens possible for seniors.
