Dear Residents and Families of Dania,

I want to provide you with an update on events of the past month on the Dania campus.

Last month, Dania celebrated Father’s Day with great décor, events, and food.  Our resident dads across the campus cherished the day with their families and staff.  On June 26, Dania also hosted a BBQ event in honour of the Filipino community and the Lapu-Lapu Festival.  Staff, residents and families saw lots of Filipino food, music and live performances at the Dania Home front entrance. We had the privilege of having Dania’s Family Council Chair Craig McCulloch and the City of Burnaby Councillor Maita Santiago in attendance. We are thankful to both for explaining the meaning and importance of this event, especially Councillor Santiago who is of Filipino heritage. We also thank Dania’s Recreation Department and Support Services team who normally coordinate such great events for all to enjoy on the campus.

As the weather is warming these summer days, we would like to let you know that Dania has a heat response plan in place for all residents to address any prolonged heat events.  We will follow Fraser Health guidelines as well as monitor Environment Canada’s Special Weather Statements daily for the safety of residents and staff.

Lastly, Family Council Chair, Craig McCulloch and I would like to welcome all current and new family members to attend our monthly meetings where we discuss important topics that concern BC’s healthcare system and the impact it has on our residents, families and staff.  Our next meeting is this Monday, July 14, 2025 at 6:30pm.  For those that are unable to attend in-person, we also have a virtual method available.  Here are the ZOOM meeting details:
